Core workout #1 – Helpful apps that do the heavy lifting

I have a terrible memory.

It’s something I’ve been known for all my life and my wife has finally learned to love about me. “Love” might be artistic license. Tolerate? Despair of? Anyway, it’s something to work on. Meanwhile, I really don’t think anyone with a better memory could stay on top of everything it takes to adult. Yes, it’s a verb, I remember seeing it in the dictionary *cough*

So why try to force yourself to stay on top of everything? Don’t bother. It’s far less stressful to have a computer/app/robot do all the heavy lifting for you. Use an app to improve your memory in a fun way… where the consequences aren’t a forgotten dinner party or your house getting repossessed.

The Solution

Short answer below. Longer answers in the next few posts. I hate super long posts and this would just be too long with everything in it. I’m addicted to Reddit and as a result, I think every article should be short. Like, five minutes max. The level of padding out there is too damn high!

Maybe you’re already using some of these, but do check out the rest of them.

  • Google Inbox – your email as a TODO list
  • Google Calendar – don’t double book or forget anything
  • Google Docs – a long term repository for ideas, notes and lists
  • Google Sheets – financial spreadsheets, checklists, budget planners
  • Wunderlist – the main TODO list
  • IFTTT – a bit of magic that joins the Calendar to the TODO list

There’s every chance that a future post about saving money will be based on using some one of these apps which is why I’m starting off here. I’ll go into more detail on each of them in the next few posts.

So, all done. The first “proper” post over with. Go read the next one! Do it.

Meanwhile, I’m marking this off my TODO list and celebrating with some confetti…
